EPF’s August Programme
Our theme this year is ‘The toughest times economically in 80 years for working people demands recession proof entertainment’. To celebrate the Edinburgh People’s Festival’s tenth anniversary and acknowledging the tough times people in this city are enduring, all our fabulous events this year are free. Thanks to the generousity of our trade union partners all tickets for our 2012 shows are absolutely free. So book early to avoid disappointment.

Monday 6th – Edinburgh’s radical past
Acclaimed Local historian Allan Armstrong leads this guided tour through Edinburgh’s radical past.

Tuesday 7th- REBUS’S Edinburgh
Actor and renowned Rebus raconteur Colin Brown introduces the Edinburgh made famous by Ian Rankins fictional detective.

Wednesday 8th – ‘Fredom Come Alll ye’
To mark this years Henderson Memorial Lecture our special guest speaker will make the case for Scotttish Independence as Hamish Henderson saw it – a modern democratic republic.

Thursday 9th – ‘The toughest economic times in 80 years’.
With many commentators pointing out the present economic comparisons with the hungry 30′s we host this special debate on what the future holds for the working class people of Edinburgh and beyond.

Friday 10th – Recession proof comedy
The Edinburgh Peoples’ Festival returns to the BMC Club in Gorgie for our 10th year with 4 top comedians courtesy of The Stand Comedy Club.
